What is Barkcloth?
The Hawaiian term for barkcloth is kapa. Traditionally, kapa was made from the wauke tree, stripped of its outer bark and soaked in fresh water to soften the fibers. The softened material was then pounded twice into a flat piece of fabric. Kapa became a symbol of rank and prestige in ancient Hawaiian culture, used most often by royalty and offered as gifts.
Today, barkcloth is made from 100% cotton, textured with a surface that is reminiscent of cushion covers from the early 1950’s.
Our barkcloth is ideal for residential and commercial uses. We use a variety of different weaves to make up our top end, “Bark Kahala,” a double twisted yarn which gives the face of the fabric a nubby and textured feel.

All international orders including Canada are subject to any applicable international shipping fees. We do not ship to international P.O. boxes; a physical street address must be provided. You (the buyer) are solely responsible for any customs, duties, or taxes including any Value Added Tax (VAT) fees.
Whats is the Shipping/Return Policy?
We offer standardized domestic shipping via USPS or UPS Ground (approximately 3-7 business days for processing and delivery). Please contact us for international shipping inquiries or if you would like to expedite your order at an additional charge.
All yardage is cut to order. Due to the nature of the business, we do not accept returns. We try our best to provide quality information, so that are customers are able to make a clear judgement on the artistry of our fabrics. We are happy to answer any questions prior to placing an order.
If there are damages, shortages, or issues with packing, we will gladly work with you to remedy any problems. Issues must be reported within five days upon the arrival of your order. Please email us with "Return" in the subject line. Returns will not be accepted without prior authorization. It is imperative that you include the following information in your message: Purchase Order #, Name (as it appears on the order form), Contact Number, Detailed Product Description, and Quantity of the items you would like to claim for shortages, damages, or defectiveness. All shipping and handling fees are NON-refundable.
